hello you

It’s time to tackle refinishing!

Today’s lesson is on how to refinish a night table. Furniture is expensive, no matter where you shop and more importantly, if you love a piece you already have, why not give it a fresh look?

Follow the steps below to make one of your pieces take on a second life!

2. WIDE OPEN SPACE

Fresh air and space are a must for this process, so make sure you have a place outdoors you can set up shop.

3. SAND IT BABY

Two options, depending on the size of your piece.

Grab some sandpaper to do it by hand here

Or

Use an electric sander here to get the job done efficiently.

Tip: If you have nicks and imperfections you would like to fix, apply Minwax wood filler to these areas with your finger in a heaping manner.

Let Dry (indicated when the product turns white).

Sand over the area until smooth.

4. PAINTING PARTY

As featured, I used spray paint for the drawers and canned paint for the box.

Using the absorbent pads under your piece while painting is a simple, easy way to keep your area clean.

5. so glossy

Adding a top coat will protect your piece for years to come. I chose a high gloss finish here, but Minwax offers various finishes including matte.

6. ADD SPARKLE

What makes this piece truly special is the hardware!

Replacing the original wooden knobs that came with the night stand, this brass and acrylic knob screws in place easily.
